Client: Mandy McMillan
Tasks: Publicity, Grant Writing, Personal Branding
In the spring of 2019, Canadian country-pop artist Mandy McMillan hired NovaCurrent Public Relations to prepare her application to the FACTOR Artist Development program.
We worked with Mandy on all aspects of the application – including building supplementary materials, and developing her artist development strategy.
Mandy McMillan was approved for funding in the FACTOR Artist Development program in the summer of 2019. The funding was used in part towards the distribution, promotion, and music video for her 2020 single, “Dream Catcher”.
For our next project, we worked with Mandy to re-brand her existing website and develop a new set of branding initiatives and social media strategies that would tap into her authentic nature and set the tone for her eventual album release.
In September of 2019, Mandy McMillan’s new website was completed and launched. We also prepared a personal branding summary and social media guide with next steps on moving her newly-defined branding initiatives forward.
In the summer of 2020, we teamed up with Mandy McMillan again for the release of “Dream Catcher”, the title track from her new album. NovaCurrent PR managed a wide-ranging music publicity campaign that focused on getting Canadian coverage for Mandy, given the track’s simultaneous release to Canadian country radio, while also targeting Nashville, given her longtime history there.
The music publicity campaign for “Dream Catcher” earned Mandy McMillan over 50 interviews and features.
The highlights included a television performance on Today in Nashville, a video premiere from Tinnitist, a live video interview from Center Stage Magazine, as well as interviews and features from Talk Nerdy with Us, The Women of Country, Canadian Beats, Music City Music Magazine, Black is the New AP Style, and Southern Fellow. We also coordinated and Instagram Takeover for Mandy with The Country Note. “Dream Catcher” was also placed by 35 independent Spotify playlists and Instagram influencers.
